Installation Instructions

Series 5000 Panel Gauge Heater
Installation Instructions
Heater Tape

Clean water pressure tubes, that tapes will be installed upon, with denatured solvent alcohol
to assure that they are oil and dirt free.

Select the tape length best suited for each tube. Avoid unnecessary excess.

Peel the protective back off the tape to expose the adhesive backing. The tape should be
applied to the tube with the connector end towards the direction the display module output
will be located.

Apply the tape by laying the tape lengthwise down the tube, DO NOT DOUBLE LAYER THE
TAPE. If there is excess tape run it back up the tube. Do not cut the tape in any manner.

Connect each tape to the next. Do not attach more than 6 tapes to each output from the
display module (12 tapes maximum per display module)

Display Module

Mark and cut out the required panel hole (3.5"L x 1.85"W) to mount the display module onto
the panel. The bezel can be used as a template to mark and drill the four 8-32 x 1/4" corner
mounting holes onto the panel.

Securely mount the display module to the bezel plate using the (2) supplied #8-32 x 1/4"
machine screws. Next use the (4) supplied #8 sheet metal screws to mount the assembly to
the panel.

Route the orange tape outputs toward the tapes. Connect to the closest tapes.

Connect the 14 awg red wire to the 12 volt source. Connect the 14 awg wire to a well
grounded point on the chassi or a ground bar.

The unit is now ready to operate. You can test the unit by spraying compressed Co2 directly
onto the cold sensor (at the front of the panel). The light will come on after a few moments
and the tape will start to warm up. *Note: An ice cube may or may not get the sensor cold
enough to activate and is not a valid test.

A 20 amp breaker is located on the back of the display module. If the breaker trips and the
temperature is below freezing the LED flashing indicator will be activated. If this happens the
unit must be pulled through to reset breaker.

IMPORTANT: Inspect the tapes for breaks and try to locate the reason for the breaker to trip
or it may continue to trip upon demand. The short or overload will be somewhere from the
orange outputs to the tapes for the breaker to trip. More than 12 tapes, or 6 tapes per output
will also trip the breaker.
